My Approach
My Coaching Philosophy
I blend modern, science-driven methods with a respect for the foundational, old-school principles that still matter. As a trained engineer, I value data and evolving science, but believe experience and intuition are just as critical to lasting success. I start every coaching relationship with an in-depth conversation to learn your history, goals, and motivations. I truly believe that mental and physical well-being must always come first.
What You Can Expect
I don’t believe in cookie-cutter plans or limited communication. I find that traditional triathlon coaching plans are often overpriced, under personalized, and not fully effective when communication is limited, and I also believe that coaches should live, breathe, fail, and succeed in the same world as their athletes. Triathlon is a highly evolving sport, and as I learn and grow, I love passing on this knowledge to my athletes. I truly want to give back to a sport that has done so much to shape my life. I work to develop personal relationships with my athletes while we work together to stack solid training bricks.
I invest deeply in my athletes’ success and happiness, offering daily contact, real-time training adjustments, in-the-water coaching, virtual swim consults, race nutrition planning, race-day strategy, and full support through the highs and lows.
Weekly workouts will be delivered via a free Training Peaks account. I check in via Training Peaks and text frequently, and I encourage my athletes to do the same, day or night.
I’m excited to work alongside athletes who are passionate about their journey, and ready to chase their highest peaks with everything we’ve got.
About Abbie
How It Started
I fell in love with triathlon at a young age, and I’ve never looked back. Inspired by my dad, an ultra runner and cyclist, I loved the community and spirit surrounding endurance sports from early on. Shortly after I began swimming competitively, I competed in my first triathlon and immediately knew this sport would be a lifelong passion.
College Years: Growth and Resilience
I pursued my BS and Master’s degrees at Clarkson University, where I broke school records in swimming and deepened my commitment to endurance sports. During my freshman year, I won my first USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship — a title I would go on to win three times prior to racing professionally.
My collegiate years weren’t without setbacks: a series of foot injuries challenged me, but ultimately shaped me into a more resilient athlete, culminating in becoming the first female from Clarkson to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships.
Through those injuries, I learned firsthand how critical it is to build an athlete’s foundation properly — from strength training, to recovery, to nutrition — lessons that deeply inform how I coach today.
Racing at the Professional Level
After graduating, I set my sights on professional triathlon, as I trained and and studied the sport relentlessly. In 2022, after podium finishes and success in the 70.3 distance, I earned my pro card and have been racing professionally since. Along the way, I discovered my passion for coaching, and officially beginning my coaching career in 2021. It has been the ultimate pleasure seeing my athletes find so much success in the sport and truly reach their highest potential.
